39 miles done.

@ Prophetsville State Park.  Time for a shower and dinner.

Sieze the Day

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. All the anxieties of this world don't matter any more to Poor Polly.

Tough day

Today we went 39 miles against winds gusting up to 25 mph right in our face. It was tough. We decided to re-route our trip and ended up at the state park in Prophetsville IL.

We did get invited to set up camp at a guys house in Tampico. We met him on the trail and he thought it would be ok with his parents. We declined.

On the road

Someone else didn't like the rain.

Panic at Night

Woke up to the whistling winds of a thunderstorm. Completed a fire drill to cover everything and stake the tent down.

Thankfully we brought a tarp to cover our bikes and gear. We are both tired and were looking forward to a good nights sleep.... at least we are dry.

Day 1 Done, 31 miles

Camping on the rock river ...  Thinking about my beautiful Philomena on her ninth birthday. I love you honey.  :)

We are off !

On our way to Byron IL.

I called Father Howard Barch at St Marys in Byron IL and asked him oif it would be ok to use his parish as our home base and leave our car there. He was kind enough to let us do that and invited us to 730 mass this morning. Great guy. Hopefully it will work our that we cam go to mass there when we return.

Here is Jacob driving with his eyes closed. I have him as the driver so I can catch up on emails. Once I am done with emails today, I will let them pile up until I am back on Saturday.
